Soaring with performance: The Deerseeker Raptor Longbow
For traditional archery enthusiasts seeking a blend of speed, affordability, and adaptability, the Deerseeker Raptor Longbow emerges as a compelling option. This 54-inch one-piece reflex/deflex longbow caters to archers of various skill levels, offering a smooth draw cycle, comfortable grip, and impressive draw weight options.
Built for Speed and Durability
The Raptor boasts a unique design that prioritizes speed and maneuverability. Constructed with a bamboo core encased within fiberglass laminates, its reflex/deflex limbs feature a tapered profile for efficient energy transfer. This translates to faster arrow speeds, making it suitable for target practice and even larger game hunting (with the appropriate draw weight). The laminated construction ensures durability, resisting wear and tear while remaining lightweight at just 0.95 lbs. The Raptor is also extremely quiet to shoot with string silencers installed.
Adaptability for Diverse Archers
The Raptor caters to a wide range of users with its diverse draw weight options spanning from 20lbs to a remarkable 80lbs. This extensive range allows beginners to comfortably start their archery journey with lower draw weights, while experienced hunters can leverage the higher options for powerful performance. Importantly, the bow is available in both right-handed and left-handed configurations, ensuring inclusivity for all archers.
Comfort and Control
The Raptor prioritizes a comfortable shooting experience. The ergonomic riser features a smooth, hand-shaped design that provides a secure grip throughout the draw cycle. This minimizes hand shock & fatigue and allows for better control, contributing to improved accuracy. Additionally, the Diamond wood riser design is unique and looks great. Last, the bow’s 54-inch length balances maneuverability and stability, making it suitable for archers of various sizes and preferences. One thing to keep in mind is that the stated max draw length is 30 inches, and I noticed it beginning to stack around 29 inches.
Ready to Shoot Kit
Deerseeker understands the needs of archers and equips the Raptor with a convenient “ready to shoot” kit. This includes a endless loop Dyneema string, a finger tab for finger protection, an arm guard for added safety, a stringer tool to safely string and unstring the bow, and a leather arrow rest to guide your arrows accurately. This eliminates the need for separate accessory purchases, making it a budget-friendly choice for both beginners and experienced archers. While certainly not necessary, I did upgrade the string to a flemish twist and it made the Raptor shoot even better.
Wrap Up
The Deerseeker Raptor Longbow presents a compelling option for traditional archery enthusiasts seeking a balance of speed, affordability, and adaptability. I was blown away by its quality and performance compared to the affordable $109 price point. The comfortable design, striking good looks, diverse draw weight options, and ready-to-shoot kit make it suitable for both beginners and experienced archers. Ultimately, the Raptor stands as a solid choice for archers seeking a traditional bow that packs a punch without breaking the bank. I’m looking forward to hunting with it in a blind this Fall.
