Hey TradBow Nation family, I’ve got some news to share. After years of building this community around traditional archery, I’m launching a second channel called Modern Day Sportsmen that focuses on firearms, suppressors, and long-range hunting. Before you worry that I’m abandoning my recurves and longbows, let me be clear: TradBow Nation isn’t going anywhere. Milo and I will still be shooting fixed crawl, reviewing budget ILF setups, and chasing whitetails with wooden arrows. But here’s the thing: when I polled you all last fall, over half of the TradBow Nation audience said they also hunt with rifles during gun season. That tells me we’re more alike than different. The reality is that I spend significant time behind rifles too as a gun writer, and I’ve learned enough about rifles, optics, suppressor technology, and precision shooting that it made sense to create a dedicated space for that content.
The first rifle review on the new channel digs into the Howa mini action rifle in 6mm ARC paired with Barnes’ brand new factory ammunition offerings. We’re talking sub-MOA groups at 100 yards with factory loads and consistent hits on steel out to 1,000 yards from a rifle & scope setup that costs less than some custom bow builds. The 6mm ARC cartridge sits in this sweet spot between the AR-15 platform and traditional hunting cartridges, delivering serious downrange performance with minimal recoil. I tested both the VOR-TX 90 grain TAC-TX and the Harvest 100 grain GameKing loads, and honestly, the accuracy surprised me. This isn’t some five-thousand-dollar custom rig. It’s a working rifle that shoots way above its price point.
If you’ve ever been curious about getting into precision rifle work or you’re looking for an affordable crossover setup that handles both hunting season and long-range steel, head over to the Modern Day Sportsmen channel and check out the full review, and remember to subscribe for more gun reviews coming out weekly. And don’t worry, there’s a new TradBow Nation video dropping next week covering some advanced fixed crawl techniques that’ll make your brain hurt in the best possible way.
